Flower Power

Flower Power may have started in the sixties, with peace loving hippies, but it has endured, and is surely considered a classic design at this point in time.

In the Northampton Community College Fab Lab, I made a 5 petal flower, and laser cut it in many vibrant colors of acrylic.  Below from top left are transparent yellow, orange, red, 2nd row, green, blue, translucent purple, 3rd row, opaque white and transparent light blue.  After laser cutting, a pin back or ring blank is attached and then glass or stone beads are wire wrapped to make the center of the flower.

Above pictured Flower Power pins are 1" in diameter.  Below pictured Flower Power pins are 1 and 1/4" in diameter. And the opaque red is shown on the left of the picture.
After working with traditional colors, I moved on to the popular neon colors, and cut some Flower Power out of pink, yellow, orange and green.  The green does not photograph as bright as it is....
And while making the beaded center of the flower, the sparkle of a star appears.

So far, I have made Flower Power pins, rings and dangle earrings.  But with the laser cutter and some imagination, the possibilities are endless!
